storytelling

when i started working with Noonday Collection a few months ago, i thought it would be a fun job on the side, a way to meet people and of course an outlet to advocate for causes around the world that mean so much to me. i did not realize the depth of care and concern i would develop for our artisans that pour their hearts into making beautiful things! i also didn’t realize that i would stay up at night dreaming about adoption, wondering how long our wait will be, aching to meet our children, etc. adoption isn’t a new desire on our hearts, but the urgency is and i have been encouraged by real stories of kids coming home to their forever families through help from Noonday. this company is keeping me grounded, true to my convictions and has widened my lens of the world.

i am so in love with the new SPRING line and absolutely LOVE the stories behind some very special pieces:

the tessa bracelet is named after a very special “little girl with a miraculous story, eye lashes that reached the heavens, and a smile that captured hearts. She was born with no legs, half an arm, and one healthy arm. She was abandoned at her rural hospital, and nuns from an orphanage in Addis that take in kids with special needs knew that this little girl had a future and a hope.” a family that received the referral for her knew “God had called them to do an extraordinary thing, that frankly in their eyes was a pretty normal thing to do” waited four years and searched high and low for this special child. when the family made it to ethiopia to meet her, “the nun caring for orphans kept saying “You see, she came, your mommy came for you. I knew she would come.” (captured from noondaycollection.com)
the ruth necklace is named after one of our ugandan artisans, ruth. orphaned at six, she has risen from poverty and is able to send money back to her village to care for her siblings so they can attend school and avoid exploitation because of her job with noonday collection. she stated that “there was a time when my only hope was to die.” her artistic talent is a wonderful reflection of her incredible beauty and the hopeful redemption in her life.
stay tuned for more stories about the hands that make these beautiful things!
