dear me

dear me,

happy mother’s day, momma. i know you don’t take compliments well but just for this one day, let your guard down and take the praise. you are doing an amazing job.

you are raising the most beautiful, spirited, smart, creative, kind, and independent little girl. sometimes when i look at her, i think i’m looking at you. i see how her smile paralyzes you. her busy and bright mind astonishes you. and that sweet, curious, happy little boy, oh i see how he has completely melted your heart. you continue to meet his every need in an instant. i see the way he admires his big sister and i see the way you have taught her to cherish her brother. you are cultivating a life long friendship in them. the most important friendship either of them may have.

i know you are walking through rough waters. you have weathered some difficult storms and have had to adapt to unfavorable circumstances but you are a ROCK. you are a pillar of strength for those precious lives you are entrusted with. you strive to live joyously, you desire to show those precious souls Jesus every day.

i see you playing with your kids. i see you at the park, playing dress up, doing art projects, reading, and creating adventures. you always put them first. you have made incredible sacrifices and would do absolutely anything for them.

your babies scream LIFE and JOY. they feel love every second of their day. they know without any doubt that you are there for them. that you are setting yourself aside for them.

you have learned how to ask for help. i am proud of you for that. this is a hard job. you are finding your “village.” momma, don’t listen to your doubts or to the world’s whispers of judgement. you are the perfect mom for your babies.

cash in on the currency of love. momma, you may not ever receive recognition for the job you are doing. you will feel like quitting sometimes. it may not feel worth the tears and pain everyday BUT you will be RICH because you have the honor of seeing those smiles, feeling those hugs, hearing those giggles and watching those characters shape so beautifully.

happy mother’s day!

love,
me
